The art of saying “No”
Wouldn’t it be cool if we had the ability to stop things at will ? Imagine we had the ability to stop a bullet mid air, or an ability to stop time ! With such powers, the possibilities sure are infinite.
While the laws of nature and laws of physics would defy the "laws of laughter" at the mere thought of that, what if i told you we have an ability of similar magnitude by birth ? It's our ability to say NO. An ability that has the potential to STOP oneself from being trapped, exploited and victimized.
As pessimistic as the word may sound, it takes a great deal of optimism and confidence to utter those magic words. Like with any ability, its absolutely important to know when and how to use it and there's no denying that it might take a great deal of courage as there's always a consequence that follows.
The self discovery process would eventually let us know that we might find the need to use it on ourselves more than we may need to use it on others. It could be as simple as saying NO to our impulsive decisions/desires or as difficult as saying NO to an ice cream on a “NO cheat day :)”. The matter of fact is, when we use it right, the outcome would certainly yield a Positive Consequence. Could as well be a life saver or a life changer. No kidding !
So how do we say No ? Well, there are couple of ways to it. When it’s time, we can either go rogue with our newly discovered ability and screams our lungs out like angry hulk: "HULK SAYS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" or look really cool and elegant by choosing our words wisely. Either ways a No is a NO and for what it's worth, we sure could custom create our very own "naa naa naa naa punch line". It might come handy when we need it the most—like the those good ol’ business cards; here’s one for ya and there’s one for every one :)
If you have read through by previous blogs (virtual hi-fis to you for that) you would know by now that I usually prefer to float on a topic rather than deep dive. I'll leave that at the mercy of your wonderful minds.
If you have made it this far, you are already thinking of the "NO" that you always wanted to say. Good luck with that :)
